-
- Win 95 is a "stepping stone" to NT. Leaping to NT is, quite literally, a
- leap. Hardware may or may not work. Software may or may not work.
-
- Stepping to Win 95 is relatively easy. Some hardware doesn't work, other
- hardware works, but not perfectly (giving you a chance to upgrade). Same
- with software. And since more people are using 95 than would be using NT,
- hard/software developers tend to make sure their product runs on both OS's.
-
- Thus, a few years down the road, tha "leap" to NT has become nothing more
- than another small step. The overall process, while taking more time than
- a sudden changeover, is far less painful.
-
- Now, on the other hand, you can reap some early benifits by jumping to NT
- right now. The developer base has already been set up by Win 95. As long
- as your hardware and software runs on NT, you can switch over and know that
- most likely any new software or hardware you get will likewise run well on
- your OS.
